Hi, I’m Abbie!
Witnessing someone reach a goal, uncover possibilities or an unrealized dream, or live their life with more meaning and ease inspires me. When a client has more clarity, confidence, and excitement about their life, it reminds me why I love being a coach.
One reason I chose to become a coach is my hope that coaching might play a small part in supporting others in discovering how they can contribute their “good” - via their creativity, skills, passions and time - in their lives and communities. The "good" may have a wider impact and ripple effect.
For me, coaching is my next chapter. Other important parts of my life are my family and friends, spending time in nature, being creative, and new experiences and places. I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and currently live here with my husband in our new phase of life. We have two adult kids that we love to travel with, and to visit.
I am inspired by intentional, new beginnings. I believe we are capable of making changes in our lives. It is exciting, a little scary, and important to let ourselves imagine – what could be?
Background and training
I have had two other careers - I started in financial services followed by a focus in fundraising and leadership development for nonprofits. More recently, I discovered coaching as a profession and chose it as a new chapter for me.
I am a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC), having completed my training through Co-Active Training Institute, an accredited program with the International Coach Federation. I have a BS in Psychology from University of California at Davis.
My approach
Coaching is a working partnership. Together we design and implement a plan for our sessions. You select a topic for each session, and I tailor our time with the aim that it is inspiring and meaningful for you. I bring friendliness, curiosity, warmth and candor to our sessions. I use active listening, intuition, and deep inquiry to explore with you. I am your thought partner and cheerleader. I will keep you on track as an accountability partner, and shine light on the path that inspires you to move towards what you want.
There may be fun, laughter and tears along the way, too. This is a creative and fluid process and my hope is that you come away feeling confident, energized and equipped for new beginnings and life's inevitable bumps.
